NEWBORN SESSIONS
Newborn photography is unique, as you only have a very small window of opportunity to capture this beautiful and magical time. Newborn babies change almost daily, and by capturing images of your tiny sleepy baby you will create memories of this amazing period of their life forever.
Newborn Sessions ideally take place within the first 7 -14 days from birth, with the best time being under 12 days, although we can still get good newborn portraits up to 3-4 weeks old. Booking early is recommended to guarantee availability around your due date. The sessions can last around 3 hours to ensure that the session is as relaxed and comfortable as possible to get beautiful and timeless images. The safety of your baby is of paramount importance to us and Steven has undergone specialist training to ensure this is achieved.

How old should the baby be for a Newborn session?
Ideally, the best time to photograph Newborns are within the first 2 weeks following birth. It is recommended that you schedule a provisional newborn appointment for around 2 weeks after your due date, to allow for late arrivals (which is common). Don’t worry if you still haven’t had your baby, we can always move the date.
What do I need to bring?
There are no special clothes required for a newborn shoot, as the majority of shoots are taken wrapped or natural. The studio will be very warm to ensure that baby is comfortable and will sleep well. We do not rush these appointments so please ensure you have plenty of feed and nappies for the baby (and yourself – well maybe not the nappies), and don’t wear anything too heavy yourself as you may get very warm. By all means, if you do want a photograph of your newborn in a particular outfit please let us know.
How long will the session last?
We make sure that baby is comfortable during these sessions, and allow plenty of time for feeds etc, as well as snuggle time to ensure baby is nicely asleep. This all takes time so please allow at least 1.5 – 3 hours at least for your appointment.
Can I bring a sibling?
We are more than happy to welcome siblings at the beginning of the shoot, but would recommend that they do not stay the full session time as three hours is a long time for a sibling to sit still and quiet. It is therefore recommended that a partner/grandparent collects them so that we can then concentrate solely on your newborn .
